Exercise is a necessary part of maintaining your health and can contribute to a better overall quality of life. I believe every individual has a fitness plan that will resonate with them and help them achieve their goals. No matter what phase of life you are in.

My experience with fitness has been lifelong, Going back to when I was 10 years old, I was in an accident where I was run over by a pickup truck across my torso. It was a very traumatic experience that required many months before I was able to walk normally again and demanded a lot of effort and willpower on my part to be proactive in my healing process as a young boy. During my recovery I adopted a mind state that allowed me to heal and developed a desire for ever increasing standards in my performance.

Program design is my passion.

I carried this mentality with me into my military service. I was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 2004-2008. My MOS was 0311 Rifleman, I was employed as a scout within 2nd Light armored reconnaissance battalion. I deployed twice as an attachment to the 24th Marine expeditionary Unit, first with Battalion Landing Team 1/8 in 2006 (24 MEU completes ‘heavyweight’ world tour > 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit > News (marines.mil)) and then again with Battalion Landing Team 1/6 in 2008 (24th MEU returns from the forgotten battlefield; completes Afghanistan combat tour > 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit > News (marines.mil)). I sustained injuries from various incidents as well as “normal wear and tear” from my time in that profession.

Stay consistent and it will pay off.

After I exited the Marines, I became aware of the toll it had taken on my body and psyche. Soft tissue injuries and chronic pain combined with anxiety led to a drastic decline in my health. Within a year of leaving the marines I had gained 100lbs. Self-medicating with comfort foods and slipping into sedentary behaviors.

I began implementing diet changes and regularly scheduled exercise into my life. Over the course of 6 months, I lost 70 pounds. Many people that noticed my progress would ask me what I was doing to achieve my results. I was all too happy to share what I knew and if someone asked me a question I wasn’t familiar with, I would go educate myself on the topic. After I received my personal training credentials in 2011, I began working with people in the facility. Each client required specific programming to pursue their goals and overcome their unique challenges.

Discover and unlock your fitness potential.

I received my undergraduate degree in 2014 from UofL. Shortly after, I shifted my employment to a wellness center which had a physical therapy clinic integrated into the facility and a much greater emphasis on healthcare. I worked with many more medically oriented cases and learned a great deal working alongside the physical therapists there. I would often receive clients transitioning directly from their therapy sessions into sustainable maintenance routines.

My aptitude for programming has been influenced by my firsthand experiences recovering from injuries. I feel a great deal of empathy for those rebuilding the integrity of their bodies. My education and natural affinity for communication has allowed me to connect with people and influence their progress to effectively achieve the intent of their exercise programming. Using resonating personalized rhetoric, I have been able to empower my clients with valuable exercise knowledge that will last their whole lifetime.

In 2020 the pandemic changed the dynamics of my occupation. Immediately, my wife (who is also a personal trainer as well as a Pilates instructor) and I were essentially unemployed when the fitness facilities closed for months. When the facilities opened again, many people were reluctant to return to any crowded setting, especially those with health concerns. This was the catalyst for the development of our personal training and Pilates business “ABC Fitness”. With our own studio we were then able to offer our clients the comfort and attention of a private setting. Since then, we have grown our business successfully and refined our systems further. Our clients are happy, making progress every day, and we are proud of our brand.
