After graduating from Transylvania University in 2009, I moved to Louisville and worked as a medical assistant in a pain management clinic. After seeing that side of healthcare, I knew I wanted to be more involved in wellness. In 2011, Andrew and I got married. That same year, I got a job as an office manager at a chiropractic office, where I had a great mentor who taught me a lot about the anatomy of the spine. I learned how to take x-rays and started learning more about how the body works. In July 2014, Andrew and I had our first child and in January 2016, we had our second. It was then that I realized I was not taking adequate care of myself, and that had to change if I wanted to have the energy to live life with these two energetic kids. I needed a solution to get healthier. Andrew was already a personal trainer and showed me a simple workout I could do. He explained the “why” of each exercise and I found myself wanting to learn more. I started eating healthier, focusing on getting enough sleep and water, and after 6 months I had lost 30 pounds. I made the decision to study to become a personal trainer so I could share what I learned and help others achieve their goals.

In December of 2016, I became a certified personal trainer. Sharing my story allowed me to connect with people who were also on their own journey to better health. I loved getting to help people learn fitness, along with other aspects of health and wellness. In 2019 I had the opportunity to take a STOTT Pilates Reformer course through Merrithew. I fell in love with Pilates. It’s a gold mine of knowledge, technique, and programming. It applies the principles of breathing, concentration, control, centering, precision, and fluidity to your movement practice. Through my own practice of Pilates, and my observations of clients I’ve trained, I can attest to its effectiveness. At 37 years old, I am stronger and more flexible than ever. My balance is the best it’s ever been. I have seen my clients improve tremendously in these areas.

It is important to embrace your body and own your movement so that exercise becomes a part of your lifestyle. I want to empower you with the knowledge and tools needed to create a healthy movement practice. I’m always a resource for you, but I want you to own your practice, understand your body’s needs, and invest in your wellness, to improve and extend your quality of life.
